Curly Girl: How I define curls

Hello Dolls!!!  So obvi by the title I am going to be explaining how I define my curls when I wear my hair curly, as well as how I blend my hair. When wearing curly hair, I like for it to look voluminous while having that "wet look" without actually being wet (if that makes sense lol). That sounds impossible but I think I've perfected my technique and love the results I get.

Below is a picture of how I like for my curls to look, as well as some of the styles I wear with curly hair. F.Y.I. I rod the perimeter of my leave out to blend.

Here's what you'll need:

Brush, Rods, bobby pins, Noodle Head, Edge Control....pretty simple so far right???

How I define my curls:

  1. First you want to make sure that you start off with clean hair, be sure to leave your hair slightly damp. You also want to make sure that you brush your hair a little so that it will be easier for you to manipulate.
  2. Next I take some curling creme, rub my hands together, and distribute through out my hair. The curling creme that I absolutely love is Noodle Head by Beyond the Zone Pro Formula.
  3. Scrunch hair in an upward motion toward your head to create volume and to define the curls.
  4. Once the curling creme has been evenly distributed through out my entire head and I have finished scrunching, I like to smooth my edges down with Edge Control by Organic Root Stimulator.
  5. Finally I style my hair with bobby pins, or a ponytail holder.

Here are some of the styles that I have worn with curly hair.

Hope you enjoyed! Leave me a comment below if you try this out and let me know how you liked it :)
Until next post -xoxo Li Li

  3. I absolutely love the way you define your curls!!! So...two things: One...I'm new to wearing weave and I have curly hair installed now. I think you saw it (I'm A. Kamilah on Facebook). I'd like to try Noodle Head, but I can't find it anywhere!! I'm in the Bmore area. Do you have any suggestions? Two...if you're in the Bmore area, would you mind meeting up to do a consultation on how I could style my hair and maintain it's sexy? lol

  4. I'm like literally amazed (rarely happens). I could've sworn that this was your real hair.It looks so real!! I think it's because you have full eyebrows and lashes which really pulls it together well. I will totally be a fan for life if you do a post on how to create fuller looking eyebrows and lashes. Nothing gives a weave away faster than having a head full of luscious curls mixed with sparse thin eyebrows and lashes. C'mon you gotta "fill" me in.....

    1. Hi doll!!! lolol!!! I get that ALOT when I wear this hair. I sew it in in a way that gives me the freedom to do parts, pull it up into a high ponytail, etc.

Since I have created a youtube channel, a tutorial of how I do my brows is on the list of things to demonstrate. I do have naturally thick brows and all I do is fill them in, but I will definitely be recording a vid of that. I'll try my best to show how I do my lashes as well ^.^

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like for me to demonstrate

  5. Is this hair more of a looser or tighter curl?

    1. Hi! The hair has loose curl pattern. In the pics above, the curl pattern looks a little tighter because I scrunched it while it was wet and use some of the curling creme to hold the curl.

    3. Hi! In the pictures above I'd just gotten a relaxer, but right now I am transitioning.

      Thanks for your comment!!

    1. This is the only curling crème that I use, so I don't have any other curling crèmes to recommend. If your hair is similar to this hair then this crème would work really well for you. It defines your curls, does not make your hair hard, and has a nice scent to it. I believe Sally's sells this product online as well as in store, so if your having a hard time finding it in store then you can purchase it on their website.
