I still use regular products because, to be honest, the all-natural ones don’t always work for me 🥴.

I have been able to find a brand that has products to help with controlling body odors by attacking bacteria on the skin. I'm sharing my experience with this brand since I have used their products for 3 years (and counting). The brand is called Lume, and I'm sure you have seen one of their ads.

Lume has extended its product range since I was introduced to the brand. Lume offers body wash, bar soap, cream deodorant, solid deodorant, deodorant wipes, and body cream. You can purchase their products on their website, Amazon, and most recently in Target stores.

Initially, I was put off by the smell of their products, but they’ve since changed some of their ingredients to improve the scent. My favorite products are their body wash and deodorant wipes. These two are essential in my daily routine, especially during the warmer months. The deodorant wipes are chef’s kiss post-workout. I've tried 4 scents, but my two favorites are Unscented and Peony Rose. I like Unscented when I don't want the body wash to interfere with my perfume fragrance.

These products have a higher price tag but it works so well for me that I don't mind the cost. I've tried all of the products except the body cream. I will be trying that soon and will update this post once I do! Lume's website claims that the body cream is "clinically proven to smooth the appearance of rough, bumpy skin and triple skin's hydration."

Lume makes mention that it is "gynecologist developed for pits, privates & beyond." I don't think I'd recommend anyone use this on their privates but apparently, you can lol.

If you’re looking for products to help beat the heat, I recommend trying Lume. If you have super sensitive skin, read the ingredients and do a skin test on a small area of your skin before going all in. You could also ask your dermatologist if these products are ok for you to use. My best friend tried the deodorant and had a reaction.

Have you tried Lume? Skincare, however, is a non-negotiable for me. Recently, I tried using different products than usual, only to return to my holy grail skincare brand immediately. That brand is Clinique. I wrote a post years ago on how I love their products, so it should be no surprise that I still swear by them. The only difference now is that I use a spin brush as an added step to exfoliate (game changer!) In this post, I'll share which items I use to keep my skin clean and moisturized.

My skin has changed since having my son (I get a few more breakouts when Aunt Flo visits), and I am happy that my Clinique products still perform well for me. It's a blue-colored mask with silica beads for gentle exfoliation. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and moisturized.

For days when I wear makeup, I use Cliniques' "Take the Day off" cleansing balm. This cleansing balm works well at breaking down makeup, making removal easy and quick.

Have you tried any of the items I mentioned? I ordered my share of hair extensions, wigs, and ponytails from them, and I received a purple box with my item and a few other goodies inside. The wig I will be reviewing is their 10" Bang Bob wig.

Wig Construction

This unit features combs around the perimeter, and a strap that sits along the back of your head for added support. A small lace patch at the top gives the illusion of a scalp.

Hair Texture

What I love most about this unit is the texture of the hair. It is a Yaki texture which gives it a natural look and feel. It is similar to my natural hair when it is pressed. It reminds me of how Remi beauty supply store hair was back in the day.

Size

This wig is big-head friendly. I typically order wigs that have a 22”-23” circumference. This wig fits my head perfectly without giving me a headache, even with the strap inside.

Application

It was super easy to apply this wig. I braided my hair flat and put the wig on my head. I chose not to use a wig cap because it was not needed. The only thing I did once I received the wig was flat iron it and apply powder foundation to the part to disguise the knots in the lace. This was the simplest wig to apply because I did not have to worry about my edges, or adhering it to my head.

Price

LuvMe Hair is known for offering hair at a discount, so this wig is no exception. I ordered it from Amazon and was impressed that it arrived in the same packaging as it would if ordering from their website. On Amazon, this wig costs $89.90, but on their website, it is a bit cheaper with a coupon code. At the time of purchase, the 12” wig on their website was the same price as the 10” on Amazon. The only downside is you can not use the discount codes on Amazon that you can use on their website. I chose to order from Amazon due to the timing of delivery.

Cons

I prefer more wispy bangs and this wig has a fuller bang.

I also noticed a blue thread sewn into the wig after I already wore it out.

The knots are visible on the lace. It would be nice if they offered a bleached knot option for this wig. You can either bleach it yourself or add makeup to the part for a quick fix.

When flat ironing the hair, there were burn marks on my flat iron. I do not know if this means the hair is mixed with synthetic fibers, but I wanted to note it.

Finale thoughts

For the price point, this is a great wig. It served its purpose for me, which was to have a bob for my photoshoot. I originally was going to the hair salon for the same style, but it was forecasted to rain on the day of my photoshoot, and I did not want to risk my natural hair puffing up from the moisture. I am happy I ordered it because it looks amazing, is simple to apply without the hassle of glue, and is inexpensive. I also love that I could purchase it from Amazon because I received it in 2 days.

Have you purchased from LuvMe Hair before? We booked reservations for Shôtô DC, a popular contemporary Japanese cuisine restaurant I had heard so much about. Our reservation was set for Saturday evening.

We arrived and couldn’t find parking until someone told us there was a parking garage down the alley next to the restaurant. Once inside, there was a wait despite having reservations. A DJ and a dancing crowd surrounded the bar, which was a surprise. My husband and I discussed going to this restaurant a few weeks before with our son, which would not be a great place for a toddler on a Saturday night lol. The entryway filled up fast with other patrons and we stood shoulder to shoulder. I was freaking out on the inside because this was our first time being around a group of people after the pandemic.

We were seated at a table between 2 large parties. I was not a fan of where we sat because we are very tall and couldn’t stretch our legs comfortably. We also had to keep shifting when someone from either party got up. Despite this, our food and drinks were 10/10, and the decor was stunning. I ordered shrimp tempura and scallops. My husband ordered lamb chops and dumplings. The food was so delicious we ordered 2 of everything! For dessert, we ate churros with ice cream (highly recommend). The staff was very professional and welcoming. They even offered to move our seats to another table.

I recommend going here if you are looking for a restaurant with great food, ambiance, and service. This would be a perfect place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary! If you plan on going with a toddler, an evening reservation during the weekend may not be the best. Next time I want to visit during the day, possibly during the week when it’s less crowded.

Have you gone to Shôtô DC? I saw @AbriaPerry post a purse strap similar to this that she purchased from Etsy. I was just about to purchase that strap until I saw this one on Amazon for $38.99! I was skeptical because the brand didn't have a lot of reviews, but I ordered anyway. It arrived in a cellophane bag with a strong chemical odor. I let it sit out for a while before wearing it to get rid of the smell. I've received SOOO many compliments on this purse strap. My eyelids were red and inflamed, and if I cried or got them wet while washing my face, they would instantly burn and feel super irritated.

I researched and found a moisturizing cream for sensitive skin from a company called Vanicream. Vanicream products are accepted by the National Eczema Association. It is free of dyes, fragrances, lanolin, parabens, and formaldehyde. Their products are available at most drug stores, which is great because they are easy to find. This product has been a Godsend for me. Not only did it help heal my eyelids, but it also kept my body moisturized all day without feeling greasy.

I have been using Vanicream for 9 years, and now I apply it to my son's skin since it is kid friendly. He is a very active toddler, and even after a day full of running, climbing, sliding, and rolling, his skin feels as soft and moisturized as it was when I applied the moisturizer in the morning. If you have eczema or dry skin, I suggest trying this product.

I have also tried some of the other products Vanicream offers. The lotion works best for me in the summer since it is not as heavy as the cream, allowing my skin to breathe. It is just as effective as the cream. I tried their SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen on my son to protect his skin from UVA/UVB rays. He also has sensitive skin but does well with this product.

If you decide to use these products, I would love to hear how they work for you!

Warm Regards ❤

Li Li Beehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070062415711324779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8960491239219621254.post-85011953122577933582023-04-09T16:00:00.005-07:002023-04-10T06:18:19.354-07:00J'Organics Children's 4c kit for Natural Hair

As my son’s curl pattern changed I had no idea what to use in his hair to maintain moisture. I tried a few different brands to see what would perform the best and find a brand with the best ingredients in its products. I found the J’ Organic Solutions website and saw they had an entire kit dedicated to children with 4c hair.

The products are free of Sulfates, Parabens, Drying Alcohols, or Phthalates. The reviews were great on their website and on Amazon, so I decided to give it a try. The kit has a shampoo, conditioner, detangler, oil, and cream and retails for $74. Each kit has instructions on the order to apply the products. Upon receiving the kit, there was some product spillage during transit. Their website mentions to reach out immediately if you received damaged items, but I chose not to since there wasn’t a significant loss.

Black Soap Hydrating Shampoo: I was nervous trying this on my son due to my prior experience with black soap a few years ago (read all about it here). I did a skin test to make sure he didn’t have the same reaction. After seeing no reaction the next day I applied it to his hair. This shampoo lathers well and does an excellent job of removing product buildup and dandruff from the scalp. Straight from the bottle, this shampoo has a thinner consistency so you have to be careful when pouring it out.

Biotin Moisturizing Conditioner: This conditioner really defines his curls which really impressed me.

Oh Slip! Super Detangling Milk: I absolutely love how well this detangler allowed me to part and comb through my son’s hair! As the name suggests, it has lots of slip. It allows me to easily detangle his entire head quickly.

Moisture Buttercream: Baby this that THIQUE! This buttercream is so creamy and moisturizing! After washing my son’s hair, I detangle and follow up with this product to cornrow his hair. I also apply this to his hair daily to add moisture. It’s not greasy but it does give the hair a really nice shine which I love.

4c Miracle Blends Growth Oil: I use this oil as a final step to lock in all the moisture. I’ve noticed an improvement in the overall health of his hair. His hair is much fuller. He had an area at the back of his head where his hair was thinner, but even that area has grown fuller.

Overall I’d rate the kit a 10/10. We’ve been using it for 3 months now and have noticed a difference in the thickness and manageability of his hair. He even allows me to cornrow his hair which he didn’t do before using these products. The J’Organic Solutions 4c kit has made such a difference in our daily and weekly hair care routine. I literally tell everyone about it because it works so well for us. Would you give this kit a try?

Warm Regards 💓

Li Li Beehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08070062415711324779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8960491239219621254.post-72774488599782551062023-04-02T12:34:00.000-07:002023-04-02T12:34:05.979-07:00How I show up for myself

Save some you for you, a statement often easier said than done as a parent. It fits at the bottom of my son's stroller, making traveling easy.

The backpack features a bag charm and a memory foam changing pad (which has been super helpful when changing my son on the go!)

This look was inspired by a Youtuber that I've been following lately called ...

"Face Over Matter" (Hey girlie 🙋).

I picked up a few new makeup items to test out for this look. One item in particular, Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation, has received mixed reviews by beauty gurus on YT so I figured I'd give it a try to see if I'd like it. I'm going on vacation for the next 4 days, so I'll be sure to post a review of how well this foundation held up for me by next week.

Below are a list of products that I used and how I applied them to achieve this look.

EYES ✨

I'm extremely excited about this post! I've been asked to be a hair model for a hair company earlier this month and last Friday was the photoshoot! I've received a few questions on what products I used for my makeup so I decided to do a post on it!
This is the second post from my #LipFit series :) If you are not familiar with what #LipFit is, it is a new segment that I have created where I discuss some of my favorite lipsticks and lipstick/ lip gloss combinations. Obvi by the title this post will be about MAC's "Up the Amp" Lipstick ^_^

In the following pictures I only have Up the Amp on my lips without any lip liner or lip gloss so that you can see the color in it's purest form. (In case you were wondering what lashes I have on, they are from the Ri Ri Hearts MAC collection #35 lashes)

Up the Amp is an amplified creme lipstick. Amplified creme lipsticks are highly pigmented and this lipstick certainly does not disappoint! MAC describes this lipstick shade as a "lavender violet." I find that the color changes depending on how much of it you apply. It also changes depending on your complexion. I typically fill my lips in without using a lip liner and without lip gloss since the creaminess of this lipstick gives a shine to your lips anyway.
This lipstick can be worn during any season, but I think it looks super pretty during the spring/ summer. If you want to darken the color up a little bit for fall/winter, you can apply a grape colored lip liner like NYX's lip liner in "Purple Rain."
This lipstick looks good on a lot of skin tones, so don't be afraid to experiment with this color! If you are unsure of how it will look on you, then you can always go to your nearest MAC counter and ask one of the makeup artist to apply it to your lips and go from there.
As with the majority of MAC lipsticks, this one retails for $15. If you are interested in ordering online then click here. A good dupe that I have seen for Up the Amp is Revlon's Berry Haute found here.
Hello all!!! This post is going to be about makeup!!! I wanted to revisit a look that I've done in the past (here) which is a blue smokey eye, nude lip, with a highlighted and contoured face. Since I originally created this look last year, I wanted to see how different it would come out with all of the new techniques that I have learned since then.

I definitely notice the difference in my skill from the first time I did this look and now. I've learned how to highlight and contour. I have perfected how I do brows (both grooming and enhancing them with makeup). I've learned that I should not rely on a filter to fix areas that I did not blend lol! I've learned how to blend foundation better (I use blending sponges that I purchased from Urban Outfitters here.) I've also learned how to apply bottom lashes. I prefer to apply individual lashes to the bottom lash line because it's easier to apply and I just like the look that it gives.

Hello all!!!! It feels like it's been forever since the last time I did a blog post! I knew when I wrote something new, it had to be a good one. This post is going to be about my hair!

A few months ago I went to "Made in America," where I had the privilege of seeing Muvah Queen Bey live whipping her blonde tresses up and down the stage. She sported a wavy blonde bob with highlights. I HAD to have that hairstyle! One of my friends told me about a woman who sells quality hair in Baltimore and has awesome customer service. I setup an appointment letting her know the style that I wanted and sent her pictures of how I wanted the extensions colored. I told her that I wanted a little bit of the root to show so that the install would look as natural as possible. I purchased 2 bundles of 14 inch indian hair, and a lace closure.

I was extremely pleased to say the least with the final turn out of my hair. The color fit me perfectly and was exactly what I asked for. The cut was precise, the closure looks natural, and the customer service was superb. If I had any questions the owner was a call away.

So without further adieu MY HAIR!!!

I didn't really have to do much with this hair. When I am wearing the hair straight, I did not use styling products in it because I didn't want to weigh the hair down. I was pleasantly surprised that the hair has not broken off really bad since I had it lightened and flat ironed it so much. I had the hair in for 2 1/2 months and the hair still feels really soft. I don't get a lot of shedding, occasionally I will get a few strands but not a lot and I did not seal the wefts. I can run my fingers through it without it getting tangled. Another thing that I really liked about this hair is that it does not have a mildew smell to it!

When I am wearing the hair in it's natural wavy/curly state, I use the same products that I normally use on my other curly extensions, which is the "Beyond the Zone" curl defining creme sold at Sally's. You can check out how I define my curls here.

I did not bleach the knots on this lace closure. I did however take an angled makeup brush and apply my MAC MSF Natural in "Dark" to the part just to make it look as natural as possible. I also asked her to apply my lace closure using the elastic band method (there are plenty of videos on YT on how to use the elastic band method). I prefer this method of applying my lace closure because when your cornrows begin to loosen up and get a little bit old, your lace closure will start to slide back which is no bueno lol. But with the elastic band method you are able to pull the closure forward if it starts sliding which allows you to keep your sewin longer without having to get your closure reset.
Bglam weave is very affordable in my opinion. I say this because the owner, Tonya, offers specials or giveaways which helps to offset what you would normally pay provided that you win. So definitely make sure that you follow her IG @BGLAMWEAVE .

She also has a website if you are not in Baltimore which you can order from here. Since I purchased 2 bundles, a lace closure, got a custom color, full sewin, with style my total was completely different. So keep in mind if you are interested in a style similar to what I have that all of the aforementioned adds up.

I REALLY enjoyed wearing this hair and will make a wig out of it. You all should definitely check her out, you will not be disappointed! I don't know a lot of companies that have great customer service, can color the hair for you, as well as install and style it. I am thinking about getting crazy and dying it some cool colors that I have seen on Instagram. Maybe a turqouise fading into a deep purple, or maybe lime green? I know it's that sounds crazy but I think it would be fun. Plus the beauty of making a wig is that I could take it off whenever!

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Until next time :)

So this post is going to be on how I made my very first wig with a lace closure! WOOT WOOT! lol. If you follow me on any of my social medias you would have seen a preview of how the wig looked in the beginning stages.

This all began when I started thinking about my next hairstyle. I knew I wanted a sewin, but I did not want to sit for long periods of time to do it. I looked on YouTube and saw that a lot of youtubers were making U-part wigs. I wanted to try my hand at making one, so I went to the beauty supply store to pick up some materials and I saw a Remy lace closure. I always wanted to try a lace closure, so I thought instead of making a U-part wig I could add the lace closure so that I would not have to leave a lot of my hair out.

Whenever I do my sewin it literally takes me forever and a day lol, plus my leave out gets slightly damaged from flat-ironing it so much (I don't like a HAIR out of place!). I find that with this wig, I only spend 30 minutes to sew it down around the perimeter of my head, it lays flatter than my sewins, and I don't leave as much of my hair out.

Scissors

White makeup pencil

Styrofoam mannequin head (optional, but I highly recommend as it makes the process easier. I purchased mine from Sally's for about $4)

First I tweezed the part of the closure to make it a little bit wider than it was when I received it because it didn't look as natural as I wanted it to look

Next I tried on the wig cap to see how it fit and placed the lace closure on top of the wig cap to see where I wanted to place it

I took a white pencil to outline the lace closure on the wig cap to use as a guideline for where I wanted to sew the lace closure onto the cap

Take the lace closure and wig cap off, place the wig cap on the mannequin (be sure to stretch the wig cap further than the size of the mannequin head and pin it in place with the tacs. I did this because my head is bigger than my mannequin head and when I put the wig on after sewing the hair to it, I didn't want to pop the thread by stretching it)

Put lace closure into a ponytail to make it easier to work with, then place the lace closure on the wig cap within the guidelines that you drew

Sew the lace closure to the wig cap

I left a little bit of my hair out in the front of my head because I didn't want my closure to look unnatural. Behind my leaveout, I cornrowed my hair.

I placed the wig on my head and sewed it down along the cornrows that were around the perimeter of my head.

The wig cap that I purchased has adjustable straps, so after sewing the wig in, I pulled the adjustable straps so that the wig would fit snug on my head.

Since this is my first lace wig application, I had to go through a trial and error phase. As a result, initially my closure did not lay as flat as I would have liked it to because I did not sew the front of the lace closure to my wig cap so that I would not ruin the lace. So I purchased some Ultra Hold from the beauty supply store and glued the lace wig to the lace cap.

Since I did not bleach the knots on the closure, I took my Black Opal Stick Foundation in "Truly Topaz" and applied a little bit of that on my closure as well as my real part to make sure that my part looked more natural. Then I lightly blended it in with my finger.

PHEWWW!!! That was a lot lol. But I love the results. It obviously will not look as natural as your real hair, but in my opinion it comes pretty darn close to it.

I think that this is a great protective style if you are trying to go natural because you really don't need to leave any of your hair out in the front. I chose to leave hair out in the front because I don't have as much experience with lace closures and wigs, so I went the easy route and left hair out in the front. I have received a lot of compliments on this wig, especially when I tell people this is a wig that I made and not a sewin lol. Secretly I am becoming ADDICTED to closures! I think that the next one I purchase will be a curly one from PrincessHairShop. I encourage everyone to try this out and let me know how you liked it in the comments section below!
This post is going to be a review of my BH Cosmetics brush set I purchased earlier this year. I was trying to build my makeup kit and needed more brushes that looked professional, were of great quality, and inexpensive. While researching different brands I found this brush set on BH Cosmetic's website. Me being me, I youtubed this set to see if it received positive or negative reviews. At the time I could not find many videos on this brush set; however, the ones I did find gave this brush set a positive review. So I decided to take a chance and try this set for myself.
Pros

Great variety of brushes for face and eyes (good for beginners who want to have "practice brushes")

Nice bright red handles look professional (makes the brushes look more expensive than what they are)

Comes with plastic brush shapers (I lost all of them except for one! GRRR!!)

Comes with a black faux leather zip around case, which is great for storing if you do not have a brush roll or brush belt

Brush set was inexpensive, not to mention that BH Cosmetics always offer some type of discount on their website

Fast shipping

Cons

Both of the white face brushes shed, but the blush brush sheds A LOT

Foundation brush is rather thin and flimsy (I wish it were more dense)

The angled eye brush is HARD...it softens up a little with a few washes, but it is still extremely stiff and harsh on the eye area (no bueno)

All in all this is a great set, but there are a few things I think should be addressed like

Shedding, regardless of the fact that this set is inexpensive I still don't want to have to worry about my brush falling apart on my client's face. I will say that I only get shedding from the two white face brushes, the other brushes don't shed at all. #butstill

Another issue is that the angled brush is too rough to use on any part of the face, let alone your eyes.

Other than that the brushes are holding up well. I actually reach for a lot of the eye brushes in this kit more than I do for some of my more expensive brushes *shrugs*.

QUICK TIP: If you want to preserve the name of the company/the name of the brush on your brushes handle, take some clear nail polish and do two swipes over it and let it dry. You don't really realize that when you handle your brushes all the time, the oils from your hands rub the name off the brush. But if there's a protective barrier there (clear nail polish) the name won't rub off. This is also great if you have a MAC brush because they include the name of the brush on the handle which rubs off after a while. Then when you go to repurchase the brush you won't know what brush to ask for because the name rubbed off.
First things first, my laptop has been acting a donkey and I haven't been able to do ANYTHING! GGRRR!!! It's all good, I'll be getting her fixed soon ^.^ On to the post!

If you have been following me on twitter, facebook, or Instagram you would have seen the picture below of the different stages I take to highlight/contour my face. In this post I will be explaining the process in more detail, as well as the products that I use.

DISCLAIMER: I use the word BLEND like a million times in this post lol.....for good reason though because it is the key to highlighting/contouring.

Take Kalahari Sand (highlight color) and apply it to the center of your forehead, under your eyes, down the bridge of your nose, and on your chin as shown in the picture above.

Take a cosmetic sponge and start blending into your skin, making sure that you have fully blended the edges so there's no harsh line.

Take Black Walnut (contour color) and apply to the forehead, under cheek bones, along the sides of your nose. You can also apply it to the jaw line, but I don't really do that

Take the cosmetic sponge and blend into the skin close to the highlight that you just blended. Make sure you really take your time when blending so there's a seamless transition between the highlight and contour.

In the areas that I did not highlight/contour, I applied Truly Topaz (this is the shade that matches my skin perfectly, you can choose a foundation that matches your skin for this step) and again I blended everything being careful not to overlap the colors.

Take CoverGirl Ebony Bronze bronzer on an angled face brush and apply that over the places where you placed the contour foundation. Take Ben Nye Banana Powder and apply that to the places you highlighted.

To blend everything out I use my MAC MSF Natural "Deep" and apply that all over . Once you have finished blending everything you should have the most chiseled face of them all lol.

The pic to the far left shows the finished result. I love to highlight/contour my face because I find that when you apply one foundation color all over your face, it can make your face look flat. #phuckyopancakeface

In all actuality you have many dimensions to your face that you don't want to cover. So highlighting and contouring allows you to have the dimensions that you lost when you apply a one color foundation all over your face.

FYI I don't really use the Black Opal Stick Foundation in Kalahari Sand to highlight my under eye area. I normally use MAC ProLongwear Concealer in NW35 to highlight under my eyes, but for the purpose of this post I used this stick foundation because it shows up well in pics. Let me know if you have tried to my technique for your self and how it worked out for you! Also dont forget to comment below to let me know what you think!

Until next post dolls!!! I love you for sticking with me #TeamLiLi

This look was inspired by Raja, the winner from Season 3 of 'RuPaul's Dragrace.' I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way he does his makeup! I was soo captivated by this look that he wore on the show and wanted to try my hand at recreating it. I think I did a pretty good job at it, considering this is my first time doing drag makeup. I wanted my recreation to be as authentic as possible, so I threw a hair piece on and cut it into a short china bang bob.

I will not be posting the products that I used because I used so many to achieve this look and do not remember everything that I used...sorry! I will however be posting a few pics, so I hope you enjoy!

So I was searching the Internet to try and find someone who may have worn a fringe sweater dress to see how they styled it and low and behold Kim Kardashian actually wore a dress similar to the one I had on. The difference between her dress and mine is 1. the color (obvi), 2. that her fringe extends a little lower to her waist than my dress does. The fringe on my dress stops at my stomach. For shoes she wore nude pointed toe heels. She went really simple with her accessories wearing a ring and maybe some studs.
